This blog is dedicated to Jesse and Tori's Wednesday evening section of Principles of Experience Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Winter 2008.
First of all miss, great use of protoytping, you used sketches and images for all of your ideas and that made them so easy to read and see how they work! Yay! I like thise idea, it’s a group activity and it’s a simple idea but it works so well! Ockham’s Razor, that’s what it’s called, instead of going all complex and crazy you stuck to the basics and that’s what makes it so succesful. I think to make this game more intense we could have a timer so people would be scrambling to figure out the object as quickly as possible.
Make Your Own Character/Self
Oh my gosh little munny! :) We did some developmental cycling for this one in class during "Bring A Toy" day, based on requirements we actually have experience with the item itself. It’s neat how you expanded on thise idea and made it something more personal. The idea to add a cmoic strip is nice as well, I’d like to see it attached somehow so you know it goes together. It also fits into the hieracrchy of needs being int he creative section. A user can make it their own.
Thumb War Wrestling
This made me laugh so much because it looks like so much fun! :) I’m tempted to make my own version at home now even if we don’t decide to use this idea. And I thought about it some more and it might be difficult to actually make a ring and begin to stamp, well not sure how big the actual ring will be but it could even be like a chart you hang up or something so there is more room or you need to ink as much squares on the chart or something to make it easier to see who wins in the end. But then again the ring makes sense because you are wrestling. I dunno, this is one of my favourites of your’s!! :)
DIY
This reminds me of the "Make Your Own Character/Self" toy from before. But yet again you succeded in expanding the idea to different items, like shoes! Who wouldn’t want to design their own shoes or skateboard?
Letter Game
I think your games are very strong. This one is cleverly done. It’s like pictionary but not because it’s much mroe challenging. I think it would be even possible to add in charades sometimes into this as well, or you like have a choice? To make it more interactive, just a thought. Again your using that Ockham's Razor principle, making it simple yet productive.
Robot Collectible Minature Figures
This toy seems to fall with younger audiences in my opinion, not sure if it would target many people our age. But I think it’s pretty bodacious that you get different body parts in the kit and have to match them together randomly. It’s such a suprise to the person buying it. Makes them want to get more. P.S. They are having some special event at Magic Pony Joanne, we should go check it out and look at toys and get the free food. Muhahaha.I hope tit didn’t happen yet. The second last robot is cute. :)

Hi Joanne:
All of your propositions really hit the mark in this difficult demographic. See my (forthcoming) post for the whole class.
